What Style of Bouquet Is For You?

When I get together with brides for a consultation usually one of the first things we talk about is the bridal bouquet. Of the wedding flowers this is kind of the “core”. Usually we will figure out what colors, flowers and style we are looking for to use in the bridal bouquet and then everything else just falls in to place pretty naturally afterwards.

I thought it might be helpful to post some of the different style options that can be had when choosing your wedding bouquet.

 One classic bouquet style is the Cascading Bouquet or sometimes called waterfall bouquet. Teardrop is another name for it, with the teardrop bouquet being a bit more compact and not so long.

On the left is an  example of this style of bouquet. This style is generally used just for the bride and then the bridesmaids would generally have a round bouquet that had similar
colors and flowers or be a solid color to match one of the colors in the brides bouquet.

A Cascading bouquet can be made in all one color (Some brides want solid white) or a mixture. It is your choice.

Currently a very popular style is the Clutch Bouquet or also called a Hand tied Bouquet. It can be made using flowers all of one kind or with a variety of flowers and colors.

With clutch bouquets you can either leave the stems plain (just having it fastened together at the top) or there are many different ways the stems can be wrapped. Why stop with just having the top of the bouquet beautiful!

Like the clutch bouquet is another bouquet called a Nosegay. It is basically the same thing- just petite.

Nosegays can look very sweet (especially for petite women) and they can help to keep your expenses down as well.

The Calla lilies above are in an Arm Bouquet or Presentation Bouquet style. This lays on your arm and is a very easy style to carry. On the right is another example of a Arm Bouquet.

To the left is a Sheaf Bouquet. Perfect for the outdoor summer or fall wedding! Below is another example of  a Sheaf Bouquet. For this one the bride wanted wheat and then we decided to add some colorful flowers too. We loved the way it turned out!

Biedermeier Bouquet

Another style of Bouquet is the Biedermeier. In this style of bouquet there are circles of flowers with opposing colors showing a contrast. 

This bouquet is a Freestyle Bouquet. It cascades, but in it’s own artistic way.

This is a Torchiere Styling which reminds us of the Renaissance era. If you want elegance and something unique this might be perfect for you.

This is a Pomander which is a type of bouquet often used for young girls but it can look very chic when used for brides and bridesmaids as well. These can be made with a wide variety of flowers. You can also carry more than one of them.

Another type of bouquet is an Arrangement in a Basket that can be carried. This would be more commonly carried by a flower girl but an arrangement in a basket could be lovely for a bride or bridesmaid as well.

A Composite Flower is another style of a bouquet to carry. The one on top is called a Duchess Rose and for it the petals of many roses are put together to make it look like one very large rose.

 The Glamelia is another example of a Composite Flower. It is made from Gladiola blooms. The picture below  is an example.

There are even more varieties but I think we will save those for another post. These will at least give you an idea of the large selection available. Now to chose what you like best!
